The 12th Man

Adelaide Hills Chardonnay

Our late founder, Greg Trott, saw the game of cricket as the most noble of pursuits. As a youth, he even built his own concrete pitch at the family farm to emulate his heroes.

His passion is displayed at Wirra Wirra in the guise of a huge redgum cricket ball that welcomes guests to the cellars and in Ian Robertson's famous "Chardonnay?" cartoon.

It recalls a time when the Australian team was not enjoying great fortune and dreamers like Trott envisaged wearing the famous baggy green cap- if only to carry the drinks as Twelfth Man.

And if the drinks tray sported our Adelaide Hills Chardonnay, an elegant yet intense wine, crafted using 100 per cent wild yeast and fermented in the finest French oak, Trotty would have been warmly welcomed at any cricket fixture.
